2017 was another exciting year for Sunshine Horses. Thanks to your generosity in supporting our mission through multiple fundraisers. Our fundraisers included Fun Pasta, an open house and tack sale at our barn and our Equine and Wine Event at Greenwood Winery.
In August, Assemblyman Al Stirpe came to visit the barn and learn more about our cause. Sunshine again brought horses to the New York State Fair this August. The fair provides us with a great platform to show off some of our horses and educate the public about the plight of racehorses in New York State. Our horses also made appearances at the Canine Carnival, Tractor Supply and Romano Subaru.
We were honored to receive donations of time and money from various groups including the Syracuse Corvette Club, the Western New York Harness Horses Association, Cicero Fit Body Bootcamp, Hutchings Psychiatric Center, multiple Eagle Scouts and young horse lovers. This year eighteen horses found their forever homes. We are always happy when one of our horses get adopted but it is especially touching when someone opens up their hearts to one of our special cases. This year a partially blind horse (Billie) and three companion-only horses (Serengetti, Battleshipp and Walden) were among the adopted horses.
Sadly we said goodbye to Sunshine Horses Zack, Jasmine and Chance this year. It was difficult to say goodbye but we are glad we got to know them. We have great memories of these sweet horses and cherish the time that we had with them.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, adopters and volunteers for supporting our mission. Looking forward to another exciting year in 2018.
