On May 5, 60 students from Lanigan Elementary School came to the barn for a visit. Sunshine volunteers taught the kids about grooming horses, mucking stalls and general horse care. The highlights of the day were feeding carrots and apples to the horses and watching the trainers guide horses through riding and groundwork drills.
This is a repeat visit to the barn for Lanigan students. They take a field trip to the barn every year after learning about horses in school. Thanks to longtime Sunshine volunteer and Lanigan teacher Dianne for organizing this event again this year.
The students delivered a check for $480 to Sunshine during their visit. Thank you to the students, teachers and volunteers for thinking of our herd. Your generous donation will cover all costs for 2 horses for a month and farrier costs for 1 horse and one mini. Thanks to volunteer Jeff Porter for the photos.
