There is a local family in Dewitt who can no longer care for their horses and are hoping we can help them find a new home. Sunshine is currently at capacity with a waiting list and cannot take the mares in.
The first horse, Dolly, is a 19 year old registered Quarter Horse. Dolly is western trained and an excellent trail rider. She loves people and other animals. She has excellent manners and stands well for the farrier.
The second horse is Josie. Josie is a 22 year old Belgian/Quarter Horse Cross. She is super sweet, thrives on attention and loves other animals. She can be shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly once she gets to know you. When she was 5 weeks old she broke her leg and had experimental surgery at Cornell. She recovered extremely well and has enjoyed a full life as a companion horse.
While the owner recognizes that Dolly is more adoptable since she can be ridden, she would like to secure homes for both mares, either together or separately, before she places either. Both girls are very sweet and would be a welcome addition to any herd. Please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get more information on these sweet girls.
Update: Dolly and Josie were adopted by Sunshine Volunteers.
