Daylon in the Kill Pens
Daylon Lucky came to us on June 28th, 2019. He was a kill pen rescue that was underweight and in need of some TLC. Daylon held his head low during his first few days in the barn and was reluctant to take treats from volunteers. A couple weeks later, another kill pen rescue, Tito, became his turnout buddy. That was when his recovery began. Once he realized that he was safe and no longer alone, his sweet personality came through.
Daylon Lucky June 2019 Upon Arrival at Sunshine
After 3 months, Daylon hardly looks like the same horse. He has gained both weight and confidence! Daylon is affectionate with volunteers and isn't afraid to ask for treats. He loves running and rolling in the grass and dirt every chance he gets. He started with us as a horse who could only have 30 minutes of turnout at a time because he was so weak an underweight. He is a now a beautiful success story. Daylon walked in the State Fair parade in August and attended the Canine Carnival in September, as a representative for Sunshine.
