Description:
After a brief racing career, Tommy is now beginning an exciting new chapter. We have started him with foundational groundwork and riding in the arena. With his sweet personality and enthusiastic, willing attitude, Tommy shows great promise. His eagerness to learn and explore new skills gives us confidence that he has a bright future as a riding horse.
Tommy has been riding weekly at a walk and trot in the arena, now using a cross-under bitless bridle. Since the switch, he’s shown a much better attitude—less head swinging and more willingness to work. He stands quietly on the cross ties and continues to improve, though lunging is still a work in progress in both directions. He has been ridden outside the arena a few times, but will need more work here so he is less nervous.
Tommy would do best with a confident handler willing to work with his big personality! He can be anxious with new sights and sounds and will need an experienced person to help with desensitization. He cannot be jumped due to an old injury to his left front coffin bone (this injury left him with mild arthritis and he uses front shoes) but shows wonderful promise as your next dressage project or pleasure trail horse. His big floaty trot is the Standardbred gold standard - you can’t help but watch him move! Consider Tommy for your next training adventure!
